Code of Conduct

In addition to direct physical training, the study of martial arts emphasizes continual development of personal character, integrity and self-discipline.  The meaning of the Korean term “Tae Kwon Do” is foot- hand-way to a fulfilling life.  It illustrates how the essential philosophy of the martial arts extends beyond the purely physical aspects of training.  As a result the following ideals have been codified as an integral part of Tae Kwon Do and the VMAA organization.  They are:

1)  Honor ones parents
2)  Respect ones teachers
3)  Support the highest ideals of one’s country
4)  Maintain courage in the face of conflict
5)  Serve as a champion of justice

All member athletes and families, while interacting or participating in their capacities as members of the martial arts community to uphold the ideals listed above while demonstrating the following fundamental tenets of Tae Kwon Do.

1)  Courtesy
2)  Integrity
3)  Self-control
4)  Respect for others
5)  Sound, ethical behavior
